Environmental Policy

Our Environmental Policy is fairly straightforward.  We believe wholeheartedly that protecting our planet, our ecosystems and our wildlife is vitally important.  I have a great passion for what I photograph.  I enjoy being out in nature and I want everyone to be able to enjoy it for generations to come.  Therefore Billie's Walk endeavours to minimise the impact we have on the environment in the following ways:

• Our office/ home is on a 100% renewable energy tariff through OVO Energy.

• Waste is kept to an absolute minimum; we follow the mantra Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.  Which means the packaging you get in a delivery may well have been used for our own deliveries.  It means paper scraps are reused within the home and it means when something can no longer be reused, where possible it will be recycled.

• We will not use unnecessary packaging in your deliveries, which means we will not send your cards in clear sleeves, even though they are biodegradable.  As yet it would seem that larger biodegradable bags suitable for use with our prints are not available and so unfortunately these are supplied, for their protection, with a 'normal' clear bag.  These bags are fully recyclable but there are not the facilities currently in the UK to do this.

• The quality of image on the recycled cards we had printed as samples was not up to our high standards and so we felt it was necessary to use virgin card.  This is however responsibly sourced and is FSC Certified.  Our card envelopes however are all 100% recycled, and our postal envelopes are 80% recycled.

• Our walks are printed on 100% recycled paper.

• For our prints and photographs we offer a range of fully recycled mounts, alongside a few others that are responsibly sourced through FSC and PEFC.

• We will continue to seek out the most environmentally friendly ways to produce our products, including further use of more sustainably produced fine art papers such as Hahnmuhle Bamboo.
